Darlene “Ruby” Wiederin of Lidderdale

Darlene “Ruby” Wiederin, age 86, of Lidderdale, IA, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 at her home in Lidderdale.

     Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 13, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with Fr. Timothy Pick as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be her grandson Nathan Adamson.  Gift bearers will be granddaughters: Stacy Reinhart, Nicole Adamson and Ashley Wiederin.  Music for the Mass will be by the St. Elizabeth Choir with Mary Ross as organist.  Casket bearers will be Ruby’s grandsons.  Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

     Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 4:00 P.M. on Thursday where there be a Christian Wake Service held at 5:30 P.M.  The casket will be moved to St. Elizabeth Seton Church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

     Born on May 9, 1933 on her family’s farm near Lanesboro.  She was the daughter of Thomas and Ida (Lentz) Kuebler.  Ruby grew up in the Lanesboro area and graduated from Glidden High School.  She was married to Irwin “Irv” Wiederin on August 28, 1952 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church  in Carroll.  The couple made their home in Ralston where Irv worked construction and Ruby was a stay at home Mom.  They moved to Lidderdale in 1993 and were members of Holy Family Parish.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, going to the library, making caps for cancer patients, and quilts for people serving in the military.

     Ruby is survived by her husband Irwin “Irv” Wiederin of Lidderdale; two daughters: Connie Gliem (Jeff) of Dow City, IA, and Sandy Adamson (Craig) of Redgranite, WI; three sons: Mike Wiederin of Ankeny, Kenneth Wiederin (Connie) of Glidden, and Tim Wiederin (Joyce) of Dysart; a daughter-in-law Maureen Wiederin of Gilbertsville, KY; seventeen grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law: Don Wiederin (Lou) of Glidden and Dick Wiederin of California; and several nieces and nephews.

     Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Ida Kuebler; her in-laws August and Marie Wiederin; her sister Marion Plumley; three brothers: Carl, Eddie, and Dean; two sons: Mark “Smiley” and Danny; and a grandson Shawn Gliem.
