Arlene Eischeid of Carroll

Arlene Eischeid, 84 of Carroll, died Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey.  The Celebrant will be Fr. Steve Brodersen.  Music will be by Mary Kay Tigges and the St. Mary’s Choir.  Lectors for the funeral mass will be: Tina Gehling, Amy Isherwood and Lorraine Hoffman.  Gift Bearers will be: Lauren Gehling, Brynlee Hoffman, Emery Hoffman and Lillian Ricke.  Eucharistic Ministers will be: Donna Kennebeck, Jan Handlos and Kim Handlos.  Casket Bearers will be: Justin Hoffman, Jared Hoffman, Joey Riesberg, Tallon Beiter, Hunter Hartwigsen and Connor Hoffman.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. followed by a rosary.
The casket will be moved to St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Willey on Saturday where additional visitation will be held from 9-9:45 a.m.

Arlene was born on July 22, 1935 at Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Hilda (Reiman) Miller.  She spent her entire lifetime in the Carroll area and graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in 1953.  Arlene was united in marriage to Andy Hoffman on May 26, 1953.  To this union were five children.  Following the passing of her Andy, Arlene later married Marvin Eischeid in November of 1981.  She was a devoted mother, homemaker, and also worked in housekeeping at St. Anthony Nursing Home and assisted with Caring Hands.  Arlene had a great sense of humor, enjoyed gardening and playing cards; especially with the Willey Widowed Women.  She was an avid baker; apple and rhubarb pies being her specialties.  Arlene was a member of St. Lawrence Church in Carroll and a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church in Willey.
Left to celebrate her life are her children:  Deb (Gary) Riesberg of Halbur, Patty (Ed) McCoy of Clarion, and Mark (Sue) Hoffman of Carroll; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hoffman of Carroll; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lillian (Archie) Rickie of Carroll; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lambert Hoffman of Graettinger, Millie Hoffman of Carroll, Cliff (Jean) Eischeid of Carroll, Ruth Ann (Ray) Brincks of Carroll, Verena (Romen) Wittrock of Carroll, Janice Neppl of Denison, Duane Buetel of Carroll, Alberta Meiners of Dedham, Lenora (Vince) Gross of Carroll and Teresa (Dale) Schlichte of Manning; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Hilda Miller; her son Gerald Hoffman in infancy; her son Mike Hoffman in 2013; her husbands: Andrew Hoffman in 1977 and Marvin Eischeid in 1999; her sister, Bernice Bekehermes, and her parents-in-law, Joe and Mary Hoffman.
