Two Big Chamber Events In Carroll This Weekend

This coming weekend, the Carroll Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 14th annual Youth Basketball Tournament in gymnasiums throughout the community. Executive Director, Shannon Landauer, says they have 70 teams signed up for this year and are excited to have Program Director, Ashley Schable, able to make her debut after the first-ever cancellation of the event due to weather last year. Landauer says this is an important economic event for Carroll.

Landauer says they have some bigger brackets this year that will see some great competition. She adds this is likely one of the biggest events hosted in the City of Carroll.

The tournament is not the only event, however, that will be led by the Chamber this weekend. The next Legislative Forum is scheduled for Saturday morning.

This is the second year now that the Legislative Committee has held the forums one time per month instead of two. Landauer says the goal has been to get higher participation numbers and more substantive discussion, but what happens in Des Moines also plays a role in how much there is to discuss at each event.

Again, the one-hour forum will be held this Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center beginning at 10 a.m. Schedules for the Youth Basketball Tournament can be found on the Chamber website or you can download the App—Tourney Machine. They will also have schedules at the sites. Anyone with questions on the forum or the tournament is encouraged to contact the Chamber at 792-4383.
