Trial Information Filed Friday Against Manning Woman Accused of 3rd-Degree Theft

Trial information was filed last week in District Court for Carroll County against a Manning woman accused of writing over $700 in bad checks over a three-week span late last year. According to court records filed Friday, 30-year-old Valerie Jean Paulos faces one count of third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor. The charge stems from an investigation by the Manning Police Department that alleges Paulos wrote at least 20 bad checks from Nov. 18 to Dec. 10 to Casey’s General Store in Manning totaling $762. Her arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27. An aggravated misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
