Iowa’s annual Service Academy open house has been reconfigured to an online format this year during the coronavirus pandemic. U.S. Senators, Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley, will be hosting the virtual open house on Monday, Sept. 21 and Tuesday, Sept. 22, beginning at 6 p.m. both days. Every year, each of the senators select 10 individuals to nominate to the Military, Air Force, Naval and Merchant Marine Academies. Iowa students and members of their family will be able to learn more about all five of the academies, the application and the nomination process. Presentations will be made by representatives and recent graduates from the Air Force Academy and the Military Academy at West Point on Monday and presentations from the Naval Academy, Coast Guard Academy and the Merchant Marine Academy will be held on Tuesday. Representatives from all academies will be present on both nights to answer questions live. The link to connect to the virtual open houses on Zoom or by phone can be found below. The deadline to apply for attendance at an academy in 2021 is Oct. 16.
