The owner of a trailer in Storm Lake escaped a Monday afternoon fire without injury, but the property and everything within it was deemed a total loss. The Storm Lake Fire Department responded to the scene in the 600 block of West 8th Street at approximately 12:29 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the trailer fully engulfed in flames. The owner and occupant, Anselmo Santamaria Solsa, was asleep inside and awakened by the fire. Authorities believe the blaze started in the north bedroom, but that and the cause are as-of-yet undetermined due to the extensive damage. Damages are estimated at $25,000. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately three hours and were assisted by the Storm Lake Police Department, Buena Vista County Emergency Medical Services and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office.
