New Warrants Issued For Jefferson Man Sought By Authorities Last Week

A Jefferson man taken into custody last week in Polk County on outstanding arrest warrants now faces additional charges in District Court for Greene County. Thirty-five-year-old Justin Michael Cosnotti was arrested Friday in Altoona on nine separate charges, including willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony, third-offense domestic abuse assault, a class D felony, child endangerment and other misdemeanor counts. According to the Jefferson Police Department, three new arrest warrants have been issued for Cosnotti for control of a firearm by a felon, a class D felony, first-degree harassment, tampering with a witness, interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia. These charges are the result of investigations into Cosnotti allegedly violating a protective order for a former girlfriend. He remains in custody at the Polk County jail in Des Moines and is awaiting extradition back to Greene County.
