New Disaster Proclamation Includes Greene County

On Tuesday afternoon, Iowa Gov., Kim Reynolds, issued additional disaster proclamations for 14 counties in response to the severe storm that passed through the region on Monday morning. Locally, this includes Greene County. The proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program for residents as well as the Disaster Case Management Program. The individual grant program provides up to $5,000 to households with incomes of up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level, or a maximum annual income of $43,440 for a family of three. The grant dollars can be used for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food and temporary housing expenses. Original receipts are required for reimbursement of actual expenses related to storm recovery. A link to more details and applications can be found below. Applicants will have 45 days from the date of the proclamation (Tuesday, Aug. 11) to submit a claim. The Disaster Case Management Program is designed to address serious needs to overcome a disaster-related hardship, injury or adverse condition. Case managers will work with clients to create a recovery plan and then provide guidance, advice and referrals. There are no income requirements for the program, which closes 180 days from the proclamation date. A link for more details on how to apply can also be found here. In addition to Greene, Benton, Cedar, Clarke, Hardin, Iowa, Jasper, Linn, Muscatine, Polk, Poweshiek, Scott, Tama and Washington Counties were added to the disaster proclamation which originated with Boone, Clinton, Dallas, Johnson, Marshal and Story Counties.
