The filing deadline for open enrollment into the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) is fast approaching. Parents and guardians have until Monday, March 2 to submit applications to the resident and receiving districts. Families with children entering school for the first time as a kindergartener can submit applications until Sept. 1. Parents of open enrolled students are responsible for transportation to and from school, including students with an individualized education plan (IEP). However, if the district they attend is contiguous to their home district and the family meets income eligibility requirements, stipends may be provided for transportation. More information about open enrollment can be found at the CCSD and Iowa Department of Education websites or by calling the school at 792-8001. High school students who chose to open enroll will not be eligible to compete in varsity contests and competitions for the first 90 school days of their transfer. Questions about eligibility can be directed to the respective governing bodies using the contact points included with this story on our website.
