Manning Woman Charged With Theft For Allegedly Writing Hundreds Of Dollars’ Worth Of Bad Checks

A Manning woman has been charged with theft after allegedly writing hundreds of dollars’ worth of bad checks late last year. According to Carroll County District Court records, 30-year-old Valerie Jean Paulos was issued a summons to appear on June 30 for one count of third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor. The charge stems from an investigation by the Manning Police Department that revealed Paulos wrote approximately 20 bad checks between Nov. 18 and Dec. 10 of last year totaling more than $760. Her initial court hearing has been scheduled for July 30. An aggravated misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
