The Carroll County Solid Waste Management Commission (CCSWMC) has created a tool for all county residents in response to some staggering statistics. According to Waste 360 and a Covanta Survey, 66 percent of Americans have admitted they do not recycle and 62 percent said they aren’t sure what or how to recycle. “Education is key to a successful program,” says Commission Director, Mary Wittry. “CCSWMC is committed to sharing recycling and landfill education and we are excited for the opportunity to bring this education into every home.” Wittry is talking about new recycling brochures that have been created and will be mailed to every household in Carroll County. It has clear images of what to recycle, how to prepare items to be recycled and what to do with those that are not recyclable but not in the curbside program either. The brochure is ideal in size to be hung on the refrigerator or placed near the recycling bins.
