Jefferson Police Department Requests Arrest Warrants Following Investigations Into Separate Incidents

The Jefferson Police Department has requested two arrest warrants following their investigations into separate incidents earlier this year. The first warrant requested is for 29-year-old Yasday Sorter of Des Moines for second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and second-degree theft, a class D felony. Authorities say the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) confirmed fingerprints collected from the home in the 700 block of West State Street matched Sorters’ and substantiated other evidence collected during the investigation, which began Jan. 1. The other warrant requested is for 20-year-old Julie Ann Bentz of Jefferson. Test results on items seized during a traffic stop on March 4 came back positive for marijuana. Bentz is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor.
