The Jefferson Police Department has received assistance from Federal U.S. Postal Inspectors in a narcotics investigation. Authorities allege that packages of narcotics were being sent from out of state to a Jefferson address utilizing the U.S. Postal Service. As a result of this collaboration, a search warrant was requested and officers stood by to witness the delivery of a package to a residence in the 300 block of North Pinet Street. A short time later, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the search warrant was executed and the package, containing a substance believed to be marijuana wax, was recovered. Packaging from a previously delivered parcel was also taken as evidence. Charges are pending lab results on the seized items.
