Iowa Authorities Investigate Accident At Which Improvised Explosive Devices Were Found At The Scene

The Iowa Department of Public Safety has announced there is an ongoing investigation into an early morning Jan. 12 single-vehicle accident near Knoxville that involved explosives. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the State Fire Marshal Division to assist in the investigation as they suspected they had recovered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the accident scene. The truck had caught fire following the accident and much of it and the contents were destroyed. An autopsy identified the sole occupant and driver as Del Sorey of Arnolds Park. Search warrants related to the IEDs were served Wednesday, Jan. 15 at three addresses in Milford and Arnolds Park. The case remains under investigation.
