Greene County Confirms First COVID-19 Case

The Greene County Medical Center announced today (Monday) the first COVID-19 case in Greene County has been confirmed. According to state and local health officials, the individual is a middle-age adult between 41 and 60 years old and is currently self-isolating at their home. “While this is Greene County’s first case, it may not be the last. We encourage all residents to continue to make prevention a priority,” says Greene County Public Health Director, Becky Wolf. Iowans are asked to wash hands frequently with soap and water, cover coughs and sneezes and stay home whenever possible. Most importantly, people should comply with orders from Gov. Kim Reynolds to keep gatherings to less than 10 people and maintain the recommended six-foot physical distancing guidelines. With this newest case, 76 of Iowa’s 99 counties have recorded at least one infection since the beginning of the pandemic. As for elsewhere in the listening area, Carroll, Audubon and Guthrie Counties remain at one confirmed case. Crawford County has recorded five to date and Shelby County has seen six.
