A recent Georgetown University’s Lugar Center study has identified Senator Chuck Grassley as one of the most bipartisan senators of 2019. Grassley came in number 10 out of all senators. Last year, he ranked among the most bipartisan for the past century, ranking at 14 out of 250 senators. This placed him near the top five percent of senators since 1993. “I always try to find a Democrat to work with me when there’s a problem that needs solving,” Grassley says. “Iowans at my county meetings often ask me why politicians in Washington can’t just get along. I respond that bipartisanship does happen, it just doesn’t get enough attention.” He provided an example from this Congress. He says one of his top priorities was addressing and investigating the high cost of prescription drugs and was able to work with other legislators and introduce the only broadly bipartisan bill on that issue. Grassley adds, “I’m going to continue to work with my colleagues across the aisle to get things done for the people of Iowa.”
