Governor Suspends Penalties And Interest, But Property Tax Payments Still Due March 31

Carroll County Treasurer, Jean Seidl, is reminding residents that the second-half payment on property taxes is still due on or before March 31. Payments will be considered delinquent as of April 1. Iowa Gov., Kim Reynolds, did included a suspension of penalties and interest on property taxes, but NOT the payment itself. Seidl says county treasurers across the state are awaiting clarification on exactly how long the penalty phase has been suspended. She says, originally, it was through April 16, consistent with the extension of motor vehicle registrations and titling. However, following Friday’s press conference, they are now unsure if that is the case. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you an update as soon as that detail is confirmed. Anyone with questions is asked to contact the treasurer’s office via phone as the Carroll County Courthouse is closed to the general public. They can be reached at 792-1200.
