Driver Tries To Avoid Striking Deer And Loses Control Early Saturday Morning

No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle accident Saturday morning north of Highway 30. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the accident at approximately 8:09 a.m. for the incident which is believed to have occurred at approximately 2 a.m. that morning on Velvet Avenue. The initial investigation revealed that 33-year-old Afton Dawn Daniel of Lohrville was southbound on Velvet when a deer ran into the roadway. She took evasive action with the 2013 Chevrolet Suburban she was driving, but drove into the west ditch. The vehicle then struck a field lane and went airborne, and rolled onto the driver’s side when it landed. There was an estimated $35,000 in damage to the vehicle and an unknown amount of damage to a fence and the corn crop.
