Dispose Of Hazardous Batteries For Free Tuesday At Carroll County Solid Waste

Carroll County Solid Waste Management will be hosting a battery collection day tomorrow (Tuesday) for residents to dispose of any batteries that cannot be thrown away with the regular trash. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., they will be accepting lead-acid gel, nickel-cadmium, lithium, lithium-ion, nickel-metal hydride, and button batteries at no charge at the east side of the recycling center on Kittyhawk Avenue in Carroll. These types of power cells can pose a fire hazard at the landfill when not disposed of properly. They will not be accepting alkaline batteries, such as AA, C, D or 9-volt varieties. For more information, contact Carroll County Solid Waste by phone at 792-5001 or by following the link included with this story on our website.
