COVID-19 Positive Numbers Continue To Rise With Nearly 50 Percent Of Statewide Cases In Younger Residents

Carroll County has now topped the 200 mark in positive COVID-19 cases, rising from 194 on Wednesday morning to 202 by 6 a.m. (this) Friday morning. Of these, 166 are categorized as recovered. The county remains at two coronavirus-related deaths with the second reported early this week. As of Friday morning, Iowa is reporting 50,681 positive cases with 39,787 recovered and 964 deaths. The shifting demographics on a statewide basis show that the 18 to 40 age group now accounts for nearly half, 48 percent, of the total positives. In Carroll County, the 18 to 40 age group represents 34 percent of positives while the 41 to 60 age range is at 31 percent and zero to 17 at 12 percent. In the listening area: Crawford is at 743 positive cases with 685 recovered and three deaths; Audubon has 30 positives with 19 recovered and one death; Greene is at 42 positives and 37 recovered; Guthrie at 138 positive, 108 recovered and five deaths; Sac has zero deaths, 87 positives and 74 recovered; and Calhoun is now at 88 positive cases with 78 recovered and two deaths.
