Coon Rapids Man Charged With Assaulting An Officer And Harrassment Sentenced To Jail Time

A Coon Rapids man accused of harassment and assaulting a police officer March was sentenced last week after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors. According to Carroll County District Court records, 39-year-old Kaleb Wayne Wiles pled guilty to the serious misdemeanor charges and was sentenced Wednesday. He was ordered to pay more than $700 in fines, surcharges and court costs and serve six days in the Carroll County jail for each count with the sentences to be served concurrently. The charge stems from an incident on March 30 in Coon Rapids. Authorities say Wiles was shouting at a victim and aggressively approached them, causing them to fear for their life. As he was being taken into custody, Wiles resisted arrest resulting in injuries to the officer.
