CCSD’s New TigerZone Before And After School Program Ready For Students Later This Month

The Carroll Community School District’s (CCSD) new before and after school program, TigerZone, will welcome students for the first time later this month. School officials began investigating the feasibility of such a program last year after parents indicated there was sufficient interest in additional childcare options. Elementary Principal, Patrick Rabbitt, says they are very excited to welcome students to TigerZone once classes begin.

TigerZone will open as early as 6:30 a.m. and remain open after school until 6 p.m. to fit as many families’ schedules as possible. The program serves kindergarten through fourth-grade students for $14.50 per day per child and $10.15 for each additional child. Parents can also choose to enroll in just the morning or afternoon sessions at a reduced cost. TigerZone will be housed in the preschool pod at Fairview Elementary for the 2020-21 school year. According to Rabbitt, interest in the program has been so high that only a few spots remaining in the afternoon session. However, he says expanding TigerZone in the future is not out of the question.

The district has hired Julie Chumbley, a teacher’s associate at Fairview, as the director of TigerZone. The before and after school program is expected to receive accreditation from the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) as a licensed childcare center by Wednesday, Aug. 19. The full TigerZone handbook and details on registration can be found included below.
