The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) has expanded the hours of their open houses scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20 and are requesting parents and guardians of elementary students to fill out a brief survey prior to attending. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, school officials are asking families to register for times to ensure adequate space for physical distancing. Parents will select times between 12:30 p.m. and 7:25 p.m. that fit into their schedules. Teachers will then contact parents with their assigned time. The survey also includes questions about their choice of in-person or online instruction, if the parents expect their child to wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible at the school and any other concerns parents might have regarding the start of the 2020-21 school year. The hours for the Carroll Middle School (CMS) open house, which is also scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20, have been expanded to 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The school is requesting only one parent attend the open house with their child and to not bring additional siblings unless they too will be attending CMS. The board of education voted earlier this month to not require the use of face coverings for students. However, they are strongly recommending individuals who attend the open house to choose to wear one. Classes at CCSD begin on Aug. 25.
