Carroll Public Library To Open Wednesday With Some Restrictions

The Carroll Public Library has announced they will be reopening to the public Wednesday with some restrictions in place to curb potential spread of COVID-19. According to Library Director, Rachel Van Erdewyk, city officials will briefly meet outside the library at 9:45 a.m. to commemorate the unusual opening for the new facility with patrons allowed to enter at 10 a.m. Van Erdewyk says they have developed a tentative outline of what to expect during a visit.

She adds capacity will be limited to 25 customers at any one time, children under 17 years old will need to be accompanied by an adult, study and meeting rooms will not be available for use and restroom access will be limited. Van Erdewyk says they have also adjusted the library’s operating hours.

These hours and guidelines are subject to change. She says city officials will be closely monitoring coronavirus activity in the county, and the library may close again if the conditions they used to reopen are no longer met.

Initially, construction delays held up their opening and then the pandemic forced libraries throughout the state to close their doors. Van Erdewyk says she and her staff are excited to finally welcome patrons back.

A link to the full guidelines can be found below this story. Anyone with questions is encouraged to call ahead at 712-792-3432 prior to their visit.
