Carroll police officers dealt with two separate traffic incidents over the course of two days. The first occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19 when a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was pulled over at U.S. Highway 30 and Clark Street. This stop led to the arrest of 39-year-old Jamie Wiederin of Westside on charges of second-offense operating a motor vehicle while impaired and open container. Wiederin registered a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) more than three times the legal limit at .254. Officers also responded to a two-vehicle property-damage accident at approximately 7:50 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Grant Road. Thirty-six-year-old Ashley Cockrum of Carroll was northbound, but stopped at the red light on Grant Road. A 2000 Toyota Camry, driven by 16-year-old Riley Brincks of Carroll, was also northbound but did not stop in time and struck the Cockrum vehicle. Brincks was cited for failure to maintain control.
