Carroll Native and NBA Coach, Nick Nurse, Will Be Keynote Speaker At Sioux City Diocese Bishop’s Dinner

A Carroll native whose name is often found in international headlines will be the keynote speaker at the 24th annual Sioux City Diocese Bishop’s Dinner for Catholic Schools. Nick Nurse, a Kuemper graduate and basketball standout—especially during their road to their 1985 state championship, is the Head Coach of the Toronto Raptors, leading them to their first ever NBA championship in 2019. Prior to his current role, Nurse served as coach at Grand View University and was the NBA G-League’s Iowa Energy coach when they won the 2011 championship. He also spent 11 years coaching in Europe, winning nine championships, two Coach of the Year awards and six All-Star head coaching designations in the British Basketball League. Nurse was named head coach of the Canadian Senior Men’s basketball team in June of last year and has also served as an assistant coach in the 2012 Olympics for the British National Team. The Bishop’s Dinner will be held Sept. 12, at the Delta Hotels Center in South Sioux City, Neb. with a theme of “Let Your Spirit Shine!” Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the 16 Catholic schools within the diocese, including the Kuemper Catholic School System. Tickets will go on sale July 15 and can be purchased through the contact points included below.
