Carroll Man Pleads Not Guilty To Felony Drug Charge; Trial Scheduled For April 28

The trial for a Carroll man charged with a controlled substance violation in District Court for Carroll County has been scheduled for the end of April. According to court records, 27-year-old Shakiel Allynn Klampe filed a written not guilty plea Wednesday to one count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a class D felony. The charge stems from his arrest on Feb. 12 by the Carroll Police Department. Authorities were called to a home in the 1000 block of Simon Avenue on a report of suspected narcotics use and located a bag belonging to Klampe containing several large, individually wrapped packages of marijuana. Officials say the volume of marijuana contained in the bag exceeds the amount considered for personal use. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Thursday, April 9 with jury proceedings scheduled to begin April 28. Klampe faces a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $5,000 in fines if found guilty of the charge.
