A 21-year-old Carroll man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Saturday morning just north of Coon Rapids. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Velvet Avenue near the intersection with 320th Street. The initial investigation has revealed 21-year-old Tallon Nicholas Beiter was northbound on Velvet in a 2003 Chevrolet 1500 when he crossed the center line and went onto the west shoulder, partially entering the west ditch. Beiter overcorrected, crossing the highway to east where the truck began to roll. Beiter was ejected when the vehicle struck a tree. He was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services and later transferred to a hospital in Des Moines where he succumbed to his injuries. A passenger, 20-year-old Abby Bruch of Audubon sustained minor injuries and was not transported for treatment. The accident remains under investigation.
