Bayard Man Accused Of Taking Vehicle From Salvage Yard Parking Lot Pleads Not Guilty

A Bayard man charged in Carroll County District Court for allegedly taking a vehicle from a Carroll auto salvage yard has entered a not guilty plea. Court records show 28-year-old Trask Allen Anderson filed his written plea today (Thursday) to one count of operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, an aggravated misdemeanor. Anderson was taken into custody by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on July 21 after an employee at Quandt Auto Salvage reported on July 20 his 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe was missing from the salvage yard’s parking lot. Their investigation revealed Anderson was in possession of the vehicle. He was arrested at the victim’s home after returning the SUV. Anderson’s jury trial is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 20 with a pretrial conference slated for Thursday, Sept. 24. An aggravated misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
