You Can Golf For A Great Cause At An Upcoming Event To Support Brushy Creek Honor Flights

This year’s two Brushy Creek Honor Flights to Washington, D.C. will be May 11 and Sept. 21. These men and women will tour the memorials that have been built and dedicated to their service and to be recognized for the sacrifices they, their friends and their fellow veterans have made. Fundraising is the main way that area residents support the trip for their local veterans, and events are held throughout the year. Bob Fasbender, with the Breda American Legion, says a Veterans Golf Outing is coming up in June, and registration is open right now.

You do not need to be a veteran to participate in the outing at the Carroll Country Club on June 2. Fasbender says there is no better way to honor those who have done so much for all Americans.

Cart reservations and registration can be done by calling 712-210-5857. The event is sponsored by the Carroll County American Legion. The very first honor flight of six small planes flying 12 veterans to Washington, D.C. took place in May of 2005. Just a few years later, the Honor Flight merged with Honor Air to become today’s Honor Flight Network. As of 2017, there are more than 140 Honor Flight Network regional hubs across the nation. They have escorted more than 200,000 WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans to their memorials, free of cost to those who have served.
