A woman, who was found in Carroll to be in possession of a reportedly stolen vehicle from Indiana, has entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge. Thirty-one-year-old Samantha Macias of Carroll was arrested on Nov. 30 after the Carroll Police Department received a phone call from the owner of a 2006 Isuzu Ascender, who believed she had stolen his vehicle and may be in Carroll. Macias was located at a residence in the 800 block of North Clark Street and the stolen SUV was found parked nearby. She was formally charged in District Court for Carroll County with second-degree theft, a class D felony. As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, the charge was reduced to operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, an aggravated misdemeanor, and she was placed on supervised probation for two years. Macias was also ordered to pay more than $2,000 in fines, surcharges, legal fees and court costs.
