Witnesses Say Man Beat And Kicked Woman In Parking Lot Of Tyson Foods In Storm Lake

A Storm Lake man is being held without bond after allegedly beating a woman until she lost consciousness. The Storm Lake Police Department reports they were dispatched to the parking lot at the Tyson Foods pork plant at approximately 5:35 a.m. Monday. Upon arrival, they found a 28-year-old female unconscious on the ground, suffering from facial injuries. Witnesses reported that the victim’s boyfriend, 37-year-old Lazaro Oquendo Rubio of Storm Lake, had allegedly struck the woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground and then repeatedly kicked her in the abdomen and head. Oquendo Rubio was found in the parking lot and taken into custody. He has been charged with domestic assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. The victim was transported to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment.
