Wisconsin Man Tries To Escape From Greene County Jail After Arrested For OWI In A Stolen Vehicle

A citizen’s driving complaint led Greene County authorities to a stolen vehicle and an arrest that later resulted in a failed attempt to escape custody. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to the complaint at approximately 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, on Highway 30 near W Avenue, just east of Grand Junction. Twenty-seven-year-old Joseph Faber of Wisconsin was pulled over and arrested, charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense. It was also learned at that time that the 2015 Ford F-150 Faber was driving had been reported stolen out of Story County. Faber was charged with first-degree theft. He was transported to the Greene County jail, but made an escape attempt there, causing an estimated $3,000 in damages. Additional charges of attempted escape from custody and fourth-degree criminal mischief were added to the list.
