Area residents are invited to join the staff at Whiterock Conservancy near Coon Rapids this weekend to lend a hand during their next trail and land service day. Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 at Dobby’s shop, located about a quarter mile north of the bridge on Fig Avenue, and will help out wherever is needed until 12 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a sturdy pair of boots, leather gloves, safety glasses, and some equipment, such as chainsaws, loppers or a shovel. Most of the work will focus on clearing debris and trees from the trails. This event is dependent on weather conditions and there is a chance for some rainfall throughout the weekend. Organizers will post to www.whiterockconservancy.org if they make the decision to cancel. For more information, contact Conservation Land Director, Penny Perkins, at 515-537-9309.
