Water Treatment Plants Overtaken By Water In Hamburg And Glenwood

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has issued advisories about drinking water in southwest Iowa. Yesterday, the City of Glenwood’s water treatment plant was overtaken by the floodwaters, forcing the plant to shut down and authorities to issue a boil order. The city’s water connection with Pacific Junction has also been shut off to conserve water. Trucks will be hauling about 300,000 gallons per day from Red Oak and Shenandoah to the Glenwood treatment plant. This announcement follows one for the City of Hamburg, whose treatment center was inundated earlier this week. Residents of Hamburg are currently on a bottled water advisory and they too are having water trucked in from Shenandoah.
