Unemployment For Seven-County Region Remains Below National Rates For November 2019

Unemployment numbers for the seven-county area remained well below the national rate for November 2019 but did rise slightly compared to 2018. Sac and Greene Counties led the region at 1.6 percent unemployment, followed by Carroll at 1.7 percent, Calhoun and Audubon at 1.9 percent and Guthrie County at 2.2 percent. Crawford County had the highest rate with 2.7 percent. Unemployment rose in all seven counties from last year, from as little at 0.1 percent in Calhoun and Carroll, to as much at 0.6 percent in Guthrie Counties. Despite the increase, six of the seven counties remained below Iowa’s unemployment rate, which was 2.6 percent for November 2019. Nationwide unemployment measured 3.5 percent.
