U.S. Senate Candidate, Democrat Eddie Mauro, Wants To Be The Senator Who Stands Up For The People Of Iowa

A Des Moines businessman, Democrat Eddie Mauro, traveled to Carroll on Monday morning to announce his campaign for the U.S. Senate. He told those gathered at the Graham Park Shelter House he is ready to challenge Republican incumbent, Joni Ernst, and bring west central Iowa values to Washington D.C. Mauro’s mother Lorena (Lori) Mauro, is a Carroll native, as is most of his extended family, and he has spent a lot of time on the family farm.

As he was getting started with his kick-off tour, Mauro says a family friend’s daughter suggested he open his campaign with a joke. He asked her for a suggestion.

One of the most fundamental reasons for crossing that road and choosing public service is a direct correlation to the disservice he says he sees from his opponent.

Mauro also does not believe reports he is hearing from the White House of a bolstered economy.

He says we can do better. Ernst has not stood up for the Iowa farmers, who, Mauro says, are facing more foreclosures and bankruptcies than they have in decades and the trade war is not helping them or the smaller communities, like Carroll, who are tied to the agricultural economy. Mauro says we need a senator that puts Iowa first, even when that is politically risky, and one who works for them, not for the interests of the powerful and wealthy.

We will bring you more from Mauro’s announcement in upcoming broadcasts.
