Two People Transported For Treatment Following Thursday Afternoon Collision In Grand Junction

Two people were transported for treatment following a two-vehicle collision in Grand Junction Thursday afternoon. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Grand Junction Fire Department responded at approximately 4:31 p.m. to the scene of the accident near the intersection of U Avenue and U.S Highway 30. According to an initial report, a 2016 Kia Sedona, driven by 41-year-old Matthew Wetrich of Jefferson, was traveling eastbound on the highway. A northbound 2015 Chrysler 200, driven by 24-year-old Jacob Lovell of Perry, failed to yield the right of way and collided with the front driver’s side of the Wetrich van. Wetrich and Lovell were transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of injuries. Lovell was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
