Two People Injured In Accident East Of Carroll Saturday Afternoon

Two people were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Services Saturday afternoon following a two-vehicle accident east of Carroll. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Olympic Avenue at approximately 1:27 p.m. Their initial investigation revealed that a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 18-year-old Quinn Robert Gregory of Glidden, was southbound on Olympic Avenue and had stopped at the posted sign. Gregory proceeded to cross Highway 30, but did not see a 2008 Dodge Caliber, driven by 20-year-old Elizabeth Diane Ocker of Carroll, approaching from the east. Ocker tried to avoid a collision but was unable to completely miss the truck. The front driver’s side of the Caliber connected with the rear driver’s side of the pickup. The impact left the Ocker vehicle facing south in the middle of Highway 30 and the Gregory truck came to rest facing southwest on the south shoulder. Gregory was uninjured, but Ocker and her passenger, 20-year-old Miranda Jo Butler of Lake City, were transported for treatment of suspected minor injuries. There was an estimated $5,000 in damage to the Ocker vehicle and $10,000 in damage to the Silverado. Gregory was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.
