Two Jefferson Residents Injured In Saturday Accident Near Boone. Driver Airlifted With Serious Injuries

A Jefferson man was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital following a motorcycle/SUV accident Saturday near Boone. The Iowa State Patrol reports they were called to the scene on Highway 30 and L Avenue east of Ogden at approximately 3:35 p.m. The initial investigation revealed that a 2009 Harley Davidson Fat Boy, driven by 54-year-old Kenneth Dale Hostetler of Jefferson, was stopped at a stop sign facing northbound on L Avenue. A 2010 GMC Terrain, driven by 52-year-old Christopher Charles Bryant of Boone, was westbound on Highway 30. Hostetler proceeded through the stop sign and into the median to cross over, but failed to yield to the Terrain. The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the SUV and the impact caused Hostetler and his passenger, 56-year-old Susan Marie Sherlock of Jefferson, to be ejected from their vehicle. Hostetler suffered injuries to his right leg and head and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Sherlock also suffered injuries to her right leg and was transported by Boone County Emergency Medical Services to Methodist Hospital. Bryant refused medical treatment.
