The Jefferson Police Department reports they responded to two property damage accidents over the last weekend and into early this week. The first occurred at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the intersection of West South and South Oak Streets. A Grand Marquis, driven by Brian Tiffany, was just moving from a posted stop sign, headed northbound on South Oak. He failed to yield for an eastbound 2014 Ford F-150, driven by Scott Weber, striking the passenger’s side of the truck. There was an estimated $3,000 in damage to the Grand Marquis and $5,000 to the Ford. Tiffany was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. The second accident occurred on Monday, Jan. 21 at approximately 5:52 p.m. An officer responded to South West and West Monroe Streets to find a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Faith Wiederin of Jefferson, was eastbound on Monroe. She was struck in the intersection of South West Street by a 2002 Chevrolet S-10, driven by Donald Ott of Jefferson. Each vehicle sustained an estimated $10,000 in damages. Ott was cited for failure to yield to a vehicle on the right.
