Two Accidents On Icy Greene County Roads Reported Sunday

Icy roads are believed to be responsible for two accidents Sunday in Greene County. The first was a rollover north of Rippey. The driver, 81-year-old Marilyn Heater of Ogden, was uninjured, but the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu she was driving was totaled. Heater told authorities that she lost control on the ice and entered the ditch, where the vehicle rolled. A call came in to the communications center at approximately 8:52 p.m. of the second accident on 222nd Street near Highway 30, east of Grand Junction. The unidentified driver entered the ditch and struck a culvert. The driver was able to get themselves out of the vehicle, but it caught fire and had to be extinguished by the Grand Junction Fire Department. The Iowa State Patrol and Greene County Emergency Medical Services also assisted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
