Three Arrested After Trying To Steal Cart Full Of Goods From Carroll Walmart

Three people were arrested Sunday after attempting to steal a shopping cart full of goods from the Carroll Walmart. The Carroll Police Department responded to the theft report at approximately 8 p.m. and immediately arrested 27-year-old Meggen Richards of Des Moines. Richards provided false information to the officers and a charge of interference with official acts was added to the fourth-degree theft charge. Richards was also charged with a second count of fourth-degree theft for an April 30 incident, where she allegedly stole almost $600 worth of merchandise from this Walmart store. Two others were with Richards, 28-year-old William Fees of Altoona and 28-year-old Justin St. Pierre of Creston. Both Fees and St. Pierre were charged with fourth-degree theft and St. Pierre had the added charges of interference with official acts, providing false identification and a second fourth-degree theft charge for his involvement in the April 30 incident. Richards was also wanted on three Polk County warrants for theft and failure to appear.
