The Carroll High School Gymnasium Could Be Getting A Video Board To Match The One At The Football Field

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday night to authorize additional research into the possibility of installing a video board in the high school gymnasium. Director of Business Affairs, Gary Bengtson, presented a request from Chelsea Bissen, the instructor for the class that controls the video board during high school football games, Tiger Vision. He says Bissen was approached by several people from the community with the idea and the funding to back at least a portion of it.

According to him, there appears to be a lot of support for the project. Board President, Jen Munson, has already had some discussions with Bissen about the display. Based on what they know so far, Munson believes the district would only need to pay for installation costs.

In order to proceed, Marty Fonley, the district’s interim superintendent, told the board they needed to approve a motion which would authorize them to begin soliciting cost estimates and form the fundraising committee.

Fonley stresses the motion, which passed unanimously, did not approve the project in its entirety, just the opening stages. The fundraising committee hopes to raise $130,000 by May 1 to purchase an 8 foot by 13 foot screen to match the equipment used at the Carroll Athletic Field.
