The 2019 Carroll County Relay For Life Makes Debut At New Location Friday With Different Schedule From Previous Years

Carroll County has consistently been one of the top regions in per capita fundraising for the American Cancer Society (ACS), and organizers are optimistic that trend will continue as they host the 2019 Relay for Life tomorrow (Friday). This will be the first year the event will be held at the new Carroll Athletic Stadium, and the change of location also brings changes to the Relay’s schedule. Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m., featuring a flag presentation by the Carroll American Legion and Boy Scout Troop #105 and national anthem by Hannah Bush and Parker Anderson. However, several activities take place prior to this. The field will open to teams at 2 p.m., followed by survivor registration at 3 p.m. The Relay Smart Shop, a silent auction, face painting, a performance from the Kuemper Kix dance team and more are between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Laps of the track start at 4 p.m., and will continue until the luminaria lighting at 9 p.m. Relay for Life Co-Chairs, Andy and Kate Reiman and Brad and Brigit Pick, will finish the night with closing ceremonies at 9:30 p.m. Cancer affects almost everyone in some way, and Carroll County residents are encouraged to stop by the Relay Friday to show their support for researchers, survivors and their families. Carroll Broadcasting will be live streaming the opening ceremonies on the KCIM Facebook page. A full schedule of events can be found included with this story on our website.
