Storm Lake Man Turns Himself In To Authorities Following Single-Vehicle Accident

A Storm Lake man turned himself into authorities after a single-vehicle accident last weekend. The Storm Lake Police Department reports that 26-year-old Kevin Bergen arrived at the station early Saturday morning, surrendering to authorities and admitting he was the driver in a rollover accident that occurred at approximately 12:44 a.m. The pickup Bergen was driving struck a utility pole during the accident, causing approximately $1,500 in damage to the pole and about $5,000 in damage to the truck. A small tree, valued at $250, was also damaged. Bergen had fled the scene on foot, and officers were unable to locate him at his residence. Bergen was cited for failure to obey a stop sign, driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway, failure to maintain control, reckless driving, striking a fixture upon a highway and leaving the scene of an accident, all simple misdemeanors. There were no injuries reported.
