Storm Lake Man Arrested In Manning For Drug Trafficking During Traffic Stop

A Storm Lake man was taken into custody in Manning on Sunday after officers discovered evidence of drug trafficking during a traffic stop. According to Carroll County District Court records, 25-year-old Jamie Hernandez was pulled over at approximately 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highways 141 and 71 for a simple traffic violation. During the stop, an officer determined Hernandez did not possess a valid driver’s license and located packaging materials, a scale and more than 14 grams of marijuana in his possession. He was arrested and transported to the Carroll County jail, where he was charged with a controlled substance violation, a class D felony, and driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was released on recognizance to the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, April 2 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If found guilty of the charges, he faces a maximum penalty of seven years in prison and nearly $14,000 in fines.
