Camping kick-off weekend officially starts today (Friday) with the “Year of the Volunteer.” The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is gearing up for their 100th anniversary in 2020 with more than 30 volunteer and family events across the state. “We are looking forward to this season opener and to welcome visitors and campers to our parks, says Chief of State Parks for the DNR, Todd Coffelt. Some of the many Saturday events include clean up at Black Hawk State Park in Lake View, spring cleaning and a history program at Brushy Creek State Recreation Area, kayaking and grounds maintenance at Prairie Rose State Park and Splash for Trash and kayak instruction at Springbrook.
