Sioux City Man Accused Of Brandishing Knife During Dispute Pleads Not Guilty

The trial date for a Sioux City man accused of brandishing a knife during a dispute at a Carroll bar and grill late last month has been scheduled for later this spring. Forty-four-year-old Jason Lee Kosiba has entered a not guilty plea to one count of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident on Jan. 30 at the Piranha Club, in which he allegedly pulled a knife on another patron over a disagreement about something the victim said. According to a criminal complaint from the Carroll Police Department, Kosiba waved a knife during the exchange, and the victim was able to describe the weapon in detail. Kosiba told authorities he had pulled out the knife, but it was only to show it off. His trial is scheduled to begin on April 30 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If found guilty, he faces a maximum penalty of two years in prison and up to $6,250 in fines.
