Sesquicentennial Fun Gets Underway This Morning

cb-news-logo-v3

A year and a half of planning and preparations have gone into this weekends’ 150th anniversary celebration for the City of Carroll. The fun starts with the opening of the beer garden downtown at 11 a.m. Friday as the BBQ competition takes place. There are also a variety of different food trucks in that area and then the free Johnny Holm Band concert at 8 p.m. tonight. The Carroll Chamber of Commerce has been leading the organization efforts and Executive Director, Shannon Landauer, says they have tried to make sure that there are a variety of activity options for residents and visitors alike.

The entire day Saturday is filled with different events for people of all ages, starting with the Kiwanis pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. at Graham Park.

Landauer says later in the day the celebration transitions to the Kuemper Field House at Grant Road and East Anthony Street for what they call food, fellowship and fireworks.

An ecumenical service will follow in the field house, but the evening doesn’t end there.

Sunday will feature Carroll County Museum tours, Merchants baseball and the final Disney’s Beauty and the Beast performance at the Rec Center. There will be shuttle services offered throughout town over the weekend and more information can be found through the links included below.
